Electric Sauna Heater: Match Room, Power, Controls & Clearances
Electric heater selection is a four-part compatibility problem: room sizing, electrical supply, controller architecture and physical installation all have to match the exact model.
Electric heater selection has four independent checks
An electric heater can be the correct kW and still be the wrong heater. The room range has to fit after construction adjustments, the supply voltage and phase have to match the site, the controller architecture has to match the heater, and the installation clearances have to work in the room.

Built-in controls vs external controls
Built-in controls keep the timer and temperature interface at the heater. External-control models move user controls to a wall panel and may use a separate power unit and temperature sensor. The external architecture can support digital interfaces, scheduling or remote operation, but it also adds compatibility requirements.
Harvia's current product catalog contains both built-in-control and external-control variants. HUUM's current electric-heater support documentation lists the controller separately from the heater. This is why “same brand + same kW” is not enough to choose the control system.

Wall-mounted vs floor-standing
Wall-mounted heaters can preserve floor area in compact rooms, but mounting height and clearances are part of the exact manual. Floor-standing pillar and tower heaters often carry larger stone masses and create different bench/guard-rail relationships. Do not treat mounting style as cosmetic.
If the heater is being selected for an existing room, record the proposed heater location, nearby benches and guard rails before ordering. A physically larger heater can be inside the correct room-volume range and still fail the clearance test.
Bare heater vs complete package
A bare electric heater can be the right purchase when the buyer already knows the compatible controller, stones and installation hardware. A package can reduce compatibility work by bundling those components. The important point is to compare what is included, not to assume the package is automatically a different heater.
When comparing prices, separate the heater body, controller/power unit, stone quantity, Wi-Fi hardware, safety sensors and other required components. A lower bare-heater price can become more expensive after the required control and stone system is added, while a package can include components that are unnecessary for a heater with built-in controls.
240V and 208V must remain separate
North American residential installations commonly use 240V single-phase equipment, while 208V three-phase service appears in commercial settings and in manufacturer variants designed for that supply. HUUM's calculator explicitly asks the user to select 240V or 208V before showing models. Stones remain part of an electric heater
Electric elements heat the stone mass as well as the surrounding air. Harvia's current stone guidance says the correct stone size and quantity should come from the heater manual and warns against packing stones in a way that restricts air flow or loads the heating elements incorrectly. HUUM likewise publishes model-specific stone sizes and quantities.
